Potty training!! Ugh just those two words is enough to make anyone go insane, especially single moms of boys.. Let's face it ladies we dont exactly have the same "stuff" as our adorable baby boys.. My oldest was lucky enough to be taught by my ex husband/ youngest sons father so I didn't have to deal with that.. Well T is now 3.5 years old so I figure it's time to get him trained as his diapers are becoming expensive.. So I buy him one of those toilet seats to go ontop of the bigger one which he loves.. Unfortunately T takes after his father and is on the short side so I had to teach him sitting down, he is also really spoiled and used to having everything done by mommy so he was NOT liking this... So I sat there and tried to teach him how and he says this "mommy you're not a boy, where's Papi" that is Spanish for "daddy" for those of you who didn't know *T is half guatemalan* well I really didn't know how to answer that, he hasn't seen his father since he was 7 months old and his father just started calling last month after a stern talking to by some of his family..That's for another story.... T knows his Papi lives in Guatemala but how do you explain to a little boy that daddy just can't come and worse how do you explain that he doesn't want to.. As I find my little one growing up and becoming more into boy stuff I hear him ask me more and more about his father and why he isn't here.. My eldest Dan has met his father twice and doesn't really care for him too much so I never really got these questions..
I suppose he right thing to do is is to keep telling him Papi is in Guatemala far far away like I've been doing and leave it at that.. God knows I dread the day when I tell him the truth... Well long story short I got T trained in 3 days and I'm so proud... Now that I sit here and think about the question he asked I actually am angry... Where is he indeed!!! He has missed everything from his first tooth, first words and first steps.. He has never called on his birthday or even Christmas.. Never sent a penny even when we faced eviction instead his answer was of I didn't send him to Guatemala than I would never see a dime.. For me it's not about money, it's about building the relationship.. I believe every little boy needs a father in his life.. Maybe I'm just bitter because he left us for another woman.. But when I hear my son question me why he isn't here I can't help but feel pain for him.. Maybe I'm just angry because every single day for 3.5 years I've taken care of our son with no help from him.. I've struggled, I've cried and I've survived because that's what I do best... I would love to get a break because T is a big mommas boy and follows me like a shadow. I would love to have him have someone to look up to and emulate.. Guess its just one of those days

I became pregnant at the tender age of 16, now although being a teen mom is starting to become a nationwide trend, I actually really didn't have a choice in becoming pregnant.. As I was date raped.. I became a mom two months after I turned 17 to a Beautiful baby boy that I will call on here Dan.. T age 20 I gave birth to my second son who I will call tony :-)
I currently am in college majoring in criminal justice with the hopes of becoming a lawyer. I was just laid off from my job so times are tough right now, and I figured this is a great time to reach out to other single mothers so I hope you enjoy!
